Your Google reviews on your Closetboard page

People booking a stylist want to know what other clients think. If you’re on Google Maps, your rating and reviews can sit on your booking page, and Google keeps them up to date. It’s free.

Not on Google yet? Get a free Business Profile

About 15 minutes, then usually a few days for Google to check it

A Business Profile is what puts you on Google Maps and in Google search, with your reviews. Google gives one to businesses that meet their clients in person: at your studio, out shopping together, or at clients’ homes. If you only ever work by video call, Google won’t give you one. That’s fine: the reviews clients write after booking you through Closetboard still show on your page.

  1. Go to business.google.comSign in with the Google account you’d like to look after it with. One that’s yours alone is best.
  2. Type your business nameThe name clients know you by, like “Mia Laurent Styling”, or simply your own name. Don’t add extra words such as “best stylist in London”: Google takes them off, and they can hold your profile up.
  3. Choose what you doType what you are, image consultant or personal shopper, say, and pick the closest category Google offers.
  4. Say where you see clientsIf clients come to you, add your studio’s address. If you go to them, say you don’t have a place customers visit, then add the towns or areas you cover. Your home address stays hidden.
  5. Add your phone number and your Closetboard pageUse your page’s address as your website: closetboard.app/@yourname. People who find you on Google can book you straight away.
  6. Show Google it’s yoursGoogle picks how. Usually it’s a short video you record on your phone, showing where you work and something with your business name on it (a business card, a sign, your clothes rail), or a code by text or email. It usually takes a few days.

Once Google says you’re verified, follow Show them on your page. Your reviews then show by themselves as clients write them.

Questions

Can I choose which Google reviews show?

No. Google’s box shows your reviews as Google picks and orders them, which is what makes them believable. The reviews clients write after booking you through Closetboard are different: you choose which of those show, in the same Kind words sheet.

Does it cost anything?

No, it’s included in Closetboard for stylists, and a Google Business Profile is free.

Will my page show my home address?

No. Google’s box on your page shows your business name, rating and reviews, not your address.

My Google reviews aren’t showing

Check three things: Google has verified your Business Profile; you picked the right business (pencil on Kind words › Change); and Show on your page is on for Kind words. A brand-new review can take a little while to appear on Google itself.

How do I take them off?

Tap the pencil on Kind words, then Take off. Your reviews stay on Google.

Can I reply to a Google review?

Yes, on Google: your Business Profile › Read reviews. A kind, short reply, even to a disappointed client, reads well to people deciding whether to book you.
